Alberta Intrusion into Homeschoolers Private Lives Looking Worse and Worse

Just in from

"EDMONTON, Alberta, February 23, 2012...Under Alberta's new Education Act, homeschoolers and faith-based schools will not be permitted to teach that homosexual acts are sinful as part of their academic program, says the spokesperson for Education Minister Thomas Lukaszuk.

"Whatever the nature of schooling - homeschool, private school, Catholic school - we do not tolerate disrespect for differences," Donna McColl, Lukaszuk's assistant director of communications, told LifeSiteNews on Wednesday evening."

Paul Faris...said the Ministry of Education is "clearly signalling that they are in fact planning to violate the private conversations families have in their own homes...A government that seeks that sort of control over our personal lives should be feared and opposed."

We must ACT to stop this horrific Bill that will give the Alberta government the power to step into your home and tell you what you teach your own children on religion, sexuality, and morality.  Call your MLA, call the Minister of Education and send this to as many people as you can so they can call too.

If you live in Alberta, ACT NOW!

Click here to find your MLA.

I am a homeschooler in Alberta. I do encourage people to contact their MLAs and the Minister of Education about this issue. I just visited with my MLA today. He handed me a letter, written and signed by the Minister of Education, which states that homeschoolers will be exempted from Section 16 of the Education Act, which is the one that deals with "Diversity." I have asked that this exemption be stated clearly in the Act itself. This situation may not be as dire as it has been portrayed, but homeschoolers should ask their MLAs to get that exemption added to the bill.
