Romeike Family Update

The Romeike Family still fights for their freedom to live and homeschool in the US. The family's request for a rehearing was denied by the US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. On July 15, 2013, HSLDA US posted an update and their plan to take the case to the Supreme Court. Founder and Chairman of HSLDA US, Michael Farris says, "...the Sixth Circuit’s opinion contains two clear errors: First, they wholly ignored Germany’s proclamation that a central reason for banning homeschooling is to suppress religious minorities. Second, the Sixth Circuit erred when it failed to address the claim that parental rights are so fundamental that no government can deny parents the right to choose an alternative to the public schools.” Read the US post
