Canadian Centre for Home Education
Every homeschool family knows that homeschooling is not for the faint of heart, and that it ought not to be a solo endeavor. The help and support of good friends, family, and organizations that care are invaluable to the success of the homeschool life. CCHE is one such organization.
Helping Families Thrive
CCHE works as a complementary organization to HSLDA which ensures efficient business practice with no duplication of effort or resources. CCHE has a broad scope of helpfulness. Do you know how CCHE helps HSLDA help you? Read on! This is your support team.CCHE protects homeschooling freedoms. While HSLDA protects member families on a day to day basis, cases often arise outside of the homeschooling context that have the potential to significantly impact homeschoolers across the country. CCHE intervenes in these cases with the aim to ensure that no policy or law is written that will encroach on your freedom to homeschool.
CCHE trains key homeschooling leaders. CCHE equips men and women to represent homeschooling well and to serve homeschooling families effectively. CCHE trains leaders in special skills like:
- advocating for homeschooling freedoms;
- representing homeschooling in the media;
- organizing conferences and local meetings;
- supporting homeschooling families.
CCHE develops international partners to advance and protect homeschooling worldwide. Currently, there are very few homeschooling organizations and homeschooling leaders around the world. Canada, the United States, and South Africa are the only countries with well-developed, national homeschooling organizations. As our world becomes increasingly globalized, thoughts, policies and laws in Canada are being increasingly influenced by international thoughts and trends. CCHE’s focus is on developing international homeschooling allies by strategically developing leaders and organizations overseas.CCHE cares for homeschooling families in extreme need. As we work with families across the country, we see families choosing to homeschool even in the midst of dire financial need. A fund was started in 2013 to provide some small relief to these families for curriculum, HSLDA membership, and other homeschooling-related essentials.
Ideally, if CCHE is adequately equipped to fulfill its mission, you may never even be aware of their successful labours. The hope is that, through the work of CCHE and HSLDA, your homeschooling freedoms will be so secure and so unchallenged that you will be able to carry on without interruption and with full confidence. While your membership with HSLDA covers any day-to-day homeschooling needs that arise, in order to benefit from the unique and additional support of CCHE, there must be generous partners who contribute to the vision.Current homeschooling families, past homeschooling families, extended family members who support homeschooling: all can contribute to the ongoing work of CCHE to support and protect homeschooling here in Canada, and around the globe. Contact the HSLDA office today to find out how you get involved.
